Get More Muscle Activation With Every Lift
Most gym equipment only provide straight cylindrical bars and handles, placing high pressure on a relatively small grip area. This is why we developed Optimo One grips.
A unique anatomical contoured design with palm support prevents imbalances and allows for a more stable and effective grip.
More activation and better reps. By increasing the surface area of the bar, Optimo One grips allow you to focus on lifting heavy, leading to faster upper body gains.
The Original Ergonomic Thick Grips
Engineered by Optimo Fitness Ergonomics to fit the shape of your palm, Optimo One are ergonomic barbell grips and weight training hand grips built for lifters who want to train heavy with added palm support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick distinctions:
- Ergonomic design: Designed to fit your palm vs uniform cylinder
- Diameter: 1.6" vs typically 2–2.25" cylindrical
- Load efficiency: Less forced weight reduction with Optimo One
- Grip stability: Bar locked in hand vs potential roll with standard fat grips
Standard fat grips increase bar diameter to deliver forearm and grip activation. However, the uniform cylinder does not account for hand anatomy or load distribution, which forces a significant weight reduction and introduces wrist torque under load. The stimulus is present, but the trade-offs are increased grip fatigue and a less consistent training effect, particularly on pressing movements.
Optimo One applies the same thick-grip principle but incorporates an anatomical contoured ergonomic design. At 1.6 inches in diameter, it increases forearm engagement while guiding the wrist into neutral alignment and redistributing pressure evenly across the palm. This reduces bar roll and allows heavier weights to be used for longer periods, producing meaningful muscle irradiation including activation of biceps, forearms, and supporting upper body muscles without compromising pressing technique.
The result is consistent mechanical engagement across every set. Optimo One delivers meaningful neuromuscular activation while eliminating the trade-offs of standard cylindrical grips, making it an efficient tool for lifters who want hypertrophy and grip development without interrupting training quality.
Optimo One improves grip ergonomics and form, increasing muscle activation across every pressing and curling movement.
Optimo Pro has a larger diameter, specifically designed to boost arm development. The thicker grip increases forearm and bicep activation, allowing greater muscle recruitment and faster results with fewer reps.
Lifting straps only solve the grip problem by connecting the bar to your hand. They don’t fix the bigger issue: a standard round bar isn’t anatomically aligned with your palm under heavy load. Optimo grips fill the natural voids in your hand, promoting proper alignment and even pressure distribution. This reduces strain caused by your hand fighting the shape of the bar.
Because Optimo reconfigures how your hand interacts with the bar, it may feel different for the first 1–2 sessions. Most lifters find their "sweet spot" within three workouts as their grip adapts to the anatomical alignment.
Measure from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger; if your hand is under 7.5 inches, Optimo One is the better fit, and if it’s over 7.5 inches, Optimo Pro will feel more comfortable and effective.
Compatible with all standard 28-30mm Olympic barbells, EZ curl bars, hex bars, Smith machine bars, plate loaded machine handles, cable attachment handles, and most adjustable dumbbell systems including Bowflex and NuoBell. Works as ergonomic hand grips for barbell and dumbbell training across all upper body movements. Not recommended for pulling movements such as deadlifts, rows, or pull-ups.
Optimo Grips allows for a more natural wrist position and reduces the ulnar deviation often caused by standard grips. While many users incorporate Optimo into rehab protocols to resume training without aggravating strain, it is not a medical device. Consult a healthcare provider for existing injuries.
Yes, and most people feel the difference on their very first set. Unlike standard fat grips that simply add thickness, the Optimo One's contoured palm support cradles your hand naturally, forcing your forearms, biceps and shoulders to work harder simultaneously. You get the full performance benefits of thick grip training with an ergonomic design built to maximize every rep.
